
H. Leland Murphy
RETIRED - A co-founder of Trellis Partners, Leland Murphy brought 16
years of venture capital experience to the firm. Prior to founding
the company, he partnered with Trellis co-founder John Long to create
Dakota Venture Management Company in 1995. Mr. Murphy also serves as
a Special Partner of Dallas' Southwest Enterprise Associates (SEA),
where he has been a team member since 1985. SEA was organized as an
affiliated fund with New Enterprise Associates (NEA) in 1983 to
pursue seed and early-stage venture capital investments in the
Southwest. His investments and activities with the company reflect
this focus.
Previously, Mr. Murphy organized and served as President of
Republic Investment Company (RIC) from 1983 to 1985. A wholly owned
subsidiary of RepublicBank, RIC made limited partnership investments
in technology-focused venture capital firms and direct venture
capital investments in technology companies. His investments at RIC
included Convex Computer, Dallas Semiconductor and Landmark Graphics.
As a commercial banker with RepublicBank from 1970 to 1985,
Mr. Murphy established the first technology lending group in Texas.
He has an AB in Business Administration and Economics from Drury
College and an MBA from Indiana University.
